Behind a line of oaks lies Ruislip Lido - London's answer to the South Coast. The 100 metre stretch of sand sees half of London descend upon it on warm, clear days. The beach provides bathers with changing facilities, as well as quintessentially English style ice-cream vans and showers. Don't expect the water to be particularly clean but just taking a walk around the lake gives one a great perspective of the surrounding woodland, gaggle of geese and swans.
