InterContinental Hotel Group (IHG), with its Chicago outpost located steps from the city’s iconic Magnificent Mile shopping district, recently announced it would eliminate small, single-use toiletries from its guest rooms as well as plastic straws from its F&B operations. So guests sitting poolside at the 14th floor indoor pool - one of the oldest in the city - will have to sip their cocktails sans-plastic. And for eco-minded shoppers? Check out North Shore Exchange, which sells gently used luxury fashion, furniture and home decor and donates 100% of its profits to children and families in need in the Chicagoland area.
