[CLOSED] Sint-Janskerk
Maastrich certainly does not lack for beautiful churches and Sint-Janskerk is one of the prettiest. The striking red exterior was once accomplished by applying layers of ox blood, fortunately that’s been replaced by good old paint. Getting to the top can be a haul but it’s completely worth it for the views. You can also check their calendar for occasional musical performances.
The adjacent Sint Servaasbasiliek is also a stunner and another must see. It’s interiors are breathtaking and the treasury is truly impressive, especially the gold reliquary bust of its namesake.
