Matala Beach Île De Crète
The beach of Mátala is a well visited but still beautiful beach. It is famous for the caves at one end of the beach which were used as places to stay for people following the hippi and green movements. Today, the caves are a tourist attraction and you'll have to pay an entry fee to be able to explore them.
The beach, however, is free and offers some nice spots to relax and go swimming (unless the waves are too high - be careful!) As the area is quite busy with tourists, you'll have to park your car in the village close to the beach. The good thing about many tourists is that there are also a lot of bars, souvenir shops, cafes and restaurants, some of them offering regional food combined with a seaview. It's simply a nice spot to spend a relaxed afternoon. #caves #matala #crete #beach #photography #swimming #playground #funforteens #activekids #familyfriendly #park
