Plettenberg Bay
Plettenberg Bay was originally named Bahia Formosa, which means "Beautiful Bay", so you know what to expect. What you didn't know is that the great historical value, as excavations proved that it was inhabited ever since the Stone Age. The majority of the artefacts were found in the Robberg Peninsula, which is a protected nature reserve today. If you like hiking, you are in great luck. Robberg Nature Reserve has a 9.2 km circular coastal hike with dramatic cliff views, pristine beaches and even sand dunes for potential sandboarding. This hike should take most of your day, but it is worth every step. Bird-watching is also at its best here. The Birds of Eden is the world's largest free-flight aviary and bird sanctuary, where you can observe hundreds of bird species. The blue-flagged Plettenberg Beach is waiting for you to end the day with a perfect sunset view and try some of the best seafood restaurants of Garden Route. #plettenberg #gardenroute #southafrica #roadtrip #hike #hiking #naturewalk
