Tarantula served up the best dishes, hands down, of any place that we dined at during our stay in Thessaloniki. Their vegan mezedhes are to die for, the dolmahdes are light and lemony, the eggplant salad has a rich, rustic grilled flavor and the “cheese” and tomato fondue is out of this world. And the really good news is that two people can completely fill up, with wine, for (I kid you not) under 15 euro. The bad news is that here, like in much of Greece, laws against smoking indoors are routinely flouted. You may want to try and grab a table here at an off hour or sit outside to avoid having noxious fumes interfere with your enjoyment of scrumptious food.
