Coit Tower
Coit Tower is not just worth it for the view, but for the murals painted by students of Diego Rivera in the 1930s. They celebrate the common man, and were part of FDR’s Works Progress Adminsitration plan to get Americans back to work after the Depression. The entire base of the tower is covered in murals depicting farmers, meat packers, newspaper employees, and even people out on the streets of SF. You have to pay to go up the tower, but not to see the murals.
