For anyone passing through Virpazar visiting this fortification should be on your to do list. It's not simply a chunk of history in the town but serves as a romantic spot to dine and wine taste. The restaurant is good and if you decide to stop for a drink and bite, entrance inside is free. At dusk the fort is floodlit and views over a fraction of the lake are beautiful. From the bridge in the village centre, there is also a neat mini sightseeing bus that shuttles visitors up to the entrance of the fort at no cost.
