Borjomula River
The Borjomula river runs the length of Central Park and takes on a different pace again from even the quiet centre of Borjormi. It's as if you've gone from a slow crawl to stationary. The park is a small slice of heaven from captivating waterfalls and footbridges to pavilions, a glass bandstand and even a cable car to the plateau overlooking the region. Don't forget to try the local spa water which is free from the taps in Borjormi - it's quite disgusting but contains curative properties! Historically the park is equally as fascinating. This is partly due to Russia's role in not only the creation of the park by Russian nobility but rediscovering its source from as far back as the 1820's. Dukes and viceroys as well as some notables, such as Tchaikovsky, would visit for their healing properties. As a result, much like today, it became key holiday destination in Georgia. When Russia first annexed the country there was a strong military presence in the town which led to the development of much of what you see today, reflected in the bath houses and mansions. The water is one of Georgia's best known brands. Bar a period of time when Russia banned its import in '06, it was ranked as one of the most popular brands in the former Soviet Union. To date the water is known and sold across 40 countries, which makes this park extra prestigious for its worldwide recognition. #waterfalls #familyfriendly #photography
