Palacio de los Capitanes Generales
The Palace of the Captain-Generals was built in 1558 to serve as an administrative division of the Spanish Empire under the viceroyalty of New Spain in what we now call Central America.
These days it houses the Guatemala Institute of Tourism among other government and police departments. While it's not possible to enter the building the Palace, encompassing the southern side of the main plaza, does permit markets to set up underneath at night.
