Cannstatter Wasen
Cannstatter Volksfest is an annual festival held until roughly the beginning of May. It comprises of fairground rides, various food outlets and raucous marquees with 1000's of devotees stamping on benches whilst necking beer. It is nothing but a gathering of bacchanalia and pandemonium!
Attendees wear typical mini dirndls and lederhosens constituting the majority of the general attire within the handful of marquees strewn around the complex. The three week long event draws 4-5 million people from far and wide and is clearly not something for the faint hearted.
Security is tight and it's recommended to go early evening if you want even a glimpse of the event; if only being an interloper is your bag.
