Tavola
Tavola brings authentic Italian cooking to ground floor level of Shanghai. Even the chef is Italian and over looks a small lawn and quiet esplanade that is practically deserted. I came here during a clear spring day in April and sat on the terrace. The experience was more than satisfying. The brunch menu at 208 RMB (a little above 20 UK pounds) allows you to select anything from their light buffet and choice of one main from the à la carte. The mains were generous sizes and cooked carefully. For 98 RMB one can imbibe on unlimited prosecco, house red or white wine or beer, which after six glasses I was rather happy about! Roberto, the chef, was chatty and amicable. The restaurant fills up a little, Saturday lunch time but never to bursting point. Directions: Lujiazui metro stop on green line 2 is the closest station to Tavola. From there walk towards the Oriental Pearl until you reach a large roundabout before turning right. Pass the Shanghai Ocean Aquarium a little further down on your left and you'll find it tucked away behind the Grand Kempinski Hotel on the banks of the river. #lunch #free-wifi #dinner #food
