Barmherzige Brüder
We were completely alone for quite a while in this ridiculously ornate building during our visit to Graz, it seems to be off the radar of both locals and visitors. But this church stands out in a way that none of the other more famous houses of worship in the city do. In the spirit of “more is better”, practically every square inch of the interior is filled with mottled marble columns, gold-plated (painted?) statues, oil paintings, frescos, jewel encrusted icons, chandeliers, hanging incense burners, reliquaries and a fake grotto diorama. Make sure to visit the slightly spooky black Madonna in the side chapel before you go.
