El Astillero
Located in a small village next to a rivermouth, El Astillero is most famous for its hollow waves and desolate location. It’s difficult to get to by foot so most surfers opt to turn it into a day trip by boat to get there. Petty theft is extremely common in the area so most locals know to only come strapped with just their boards. The wave breaks low to mid tide in almost any swell direction and size. It’s a great wave for advanced surfers, with the rights a bit more favorable than the lefts. Although Astillero has become increasingly popular over the years, its remote location keeps this hidden gem tucked away from the crowds. #nicaragua #surf #surfspot
