Playa Negra is special because it’s named after the charcoal-colored sand that makes up the beach. It’s a wonderful place just north of Puerto Viejo. It is less frequented than Playa Cocles and Punta Uva, so if you’re in the Puerto Viejo area and you’re looking for a less crowded beach, this one’s for you. There are several places to stay in Playa Negra, but keep in mind it is a bit removed from Puerto Viejo proper. #beach #swimming #costarica
