Severočeské muzeum v Liberci
The North Bohemian Museum is knockout. Just witnessing the inside merits the entrance fee.
The museum was designed by Viennese architect Friedrich Ohmann. He finished it just a few years after the completion of the current town hall in 1898. As a result, the tower is a replica of one used in the old town hall before the current one still standing.
For anyone visiting the museum, there are some fine collections on display. Ceramics, textiles, china, glass, tapestry, furniture, jewellery are just some exhibits worth noting. All displays enrich the inside of this building as much as it does historians and guests. The museum also boasts a taste of Northern Bohemian history from the 12th century to the end of WW1. For those who dote on nature, there are projections of the surrounding mountain ranges. Budding enthusiasts to archaeology can get a short summary of life and how it started in the area.
From February 2018 to November 2020 the museums are undergoing reconstruction. Watch this space!
