Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv
Shevchenko park is a riot of colour at the best of times and marks one of the most respectable areas in downtown Kïev. In spring you'll encounter dozens of avid chess players on the benches battling it out and come summer can sashay along the paths to witness concerts, whilst seeing locals picnicking on the verdant lawns. Autumn is the best time in my book and with the backdrop of the candy red Shevchenko University, this place incorporates all the primary colours and more! In the centre of the park is a traditional restaurant serving mouthwatering grub. It oozes local character and service is more than fair. Kids mounted on Shetland ponies parade up and down this part of the park owing to a family-friendly feast of treats for all ages. Directions: Get off at Ploshcha Lva Tolstoho metro station on the blue line 2 and walk one block due east down the street with the same name as the stop. #history
