Fort Bullen
Fort Bullen lies at the mouth of the River Gambia and was a strategic fortification during British rule. The age of the fort is young; barely a century old. It was constructed to prevent further trade of slaves among French and Portuguese colonists. It's not difficult to spot as you dock into Barra from the ferry. Cast your eyes to the left and you'll see it hidden behind a line of fishing boats and trees. Location: Barra (just north of the ferry terminal), The Gambia #free #architecture #history #photography
