The hike to the Monastery of St. George (of Choziba) in Wadi Qelt halfway up a cliff side is half the experience before seeing it up close. The monastery is finally reached over a small footbridge at the foot of the valley and dates back to a time when dwellers would come for mass since before the 6th century. Monks shuffle around the site in a fashion not dissimilar to how they might have in biblical times. There is a seating area with water available for weary visitors from the heat. According to some believers the site is the venue of some references in the bible more notably in psalms 'The Valley in the Shadow of Death'.
