On a busy road in Shangcheng district of Hangzhou is a tastefully designed vegetarian restaurant. From the moment you enter, there is a formal yet hushed ambiance with smartly dressed waitstaff in white. After experiencing a profusion of rich sauces and bold flavours in meat and fish dishes across China, I was ready for a change. I looked forward to the more subtle tastes this place had to offer. For a start, the presentation of dishes was an attractive aspect of my encounter. I liked every plate and the different ways in which they prepared tofu were impressive. Being an avid meat-eater, I was not only impressed, but my appetite was fully sated. In addition to the restaurant are rooms for private dining.
