The Ukrainian State Museum of the Great Patriotic War
The National Museum of the History of Ukraine is a real statement as far a war museums go and its location on the right bank of the Dnipro river make it an ideal spot to see the rest of the city from afar. The area lends itself to some interesting vantage points of the river below the steep bank. On a fine day you can kick back with a local beer in one of the many spots with outdoor seating on the way to the museum from the highly acclaimed Kiev Pechersk Lavra (Caves Monastery).
The outside display of arsenal, armored vehicles, jet units and personnel carriers are plentiful making for an ideal afternoon outing. One of the main draws to this sight is being able to sit yourself in the cockpit of many techniques, many of which were in action during the second half of the twentieth century.
