Museum aan de Stroom
This unusual building, which only opened its doors in 2011, is the largest museum in Antwerp. It’s a bit difficult to describe, their collection consists of over 500,000 items, obviously not all of which are on display at the same time. This hodgepodge ranges from ancient Pre-Colombian art, old masterworks and historical artifacts up to modern photography and video. I particularly enjoyed the rooms showcasing the city’s maritime history, but if that’s not your cup of tea just keep looking, there’s something for everyone. The view of the city from the rooftop is fabulous and if you wish to dine at their exclusive restaurant, you’d do well to reserve far in advance.
