There are almost 200,000 lakes in Finland but Ajakka lake is special owing to the stories and history that have lived upon it for decades. Stepping on its icy shores always feels like a first visit since the light over it changes so much on a daily basis. I regularly took early morning icy, cold water dips in it, which not only fired up my dopamine levels but saved me the need to make a coffee.
