The 101 metre statue and platform of Rodina Mat, also dubbed The Motherland Monument towers high above the leafy banks of the Dnipro River and can be spotted from some of the surrounding districts within the city. It denotes national patriotism during the Great Patriotic War of 1941 to 45. The glossy front of the model holding a sword and shield among the tanks and fighter jets certainly make it unmissable over the more inconspicuous sandy beaches of the eastern bank of the river. #statue #history #kiev
