Church of Saint John the Baptist in Rochlice
The Church of St. John the Baptist stands on the site of a former wooden church dating back to the mid 1600's. Rochlice - where this church is positioned - is one of the oldest parts of not only Liberec but the upper reaches of the River Nisa. As a result you'll find a rustic edge when walking around here and some fine views to the Ještěd ridge. The church backs on to a small park and there are half a dozen or so benches around its circumference. You can't help but notice the bell tower from the E442 highway running north to south which dissects Liberec in two. You can spot it protruding from the factories and residential housing on the right as you enter Liberec from the south close to junction 22. #church #history #architecture
