Museum aan het Vrijthof
This museum, which is housed in one of Maastricht’s oldest buildings right on the town’s main square, seems to cause a bit of confusion among travelers. It still gets listed in some guidebooks and on websites as a repository of artifacts and artworks from Maastricht’s illustrious past. However it has since been converted into a contemporary art space featuring occasionally out-there exhibitions of all things modern. If that’s your thing, then it is definitely worth a look inside, we saw some truly unforgettable pieces here. If not, then their gorgeous courtyard cafe is one of the best places around to relax and savor a good cup of java.
