Säkkilä
Snowshowing in winter between lakes and through forests is not an uncommon pastime among local Fins and tourists in this part of the country. Making for lake Säkkilän from Ajakka, on a slow hike with wilderness guide Miia, is also an unforgettable experience. We started out at Ajakka farm and headed across Ajakka lake towards the close by lake. Having stopped several times to observe natures activity, I gained an interesting understanding of how the flora and fauna in winter is still very much alive and bountiful. We past bear habitats during hibernation and poop holes from various birds in the snow!
