2,300 hours of sunshine per year and a church whose foundation refers to a Marian apparition - all this is Locarno, the hottest city in Switzerland nestled on the northern shore of Lake Maggiore. But also the old town, with its intriguing atmosphere, the numerous narrow and cobblestone alleys and its pastel-colored houses, is home to some of the most beautiful buildings in the city, the picture gallery (Pinacoteca), Morettini Palace and the Church of San Francesco. Let's benefit from all the beauty of the Camellias Park or a walk along Locarno's Lido. Above Locarno, in Orselina, is the Sanctuary of the Madonna del Sasso, whose foundation refers to a Marian apparition. It is the main tourist attraction of Locarno, with fantastic views over the city, the lake and the mountains. For the more sporty, however, during the winter it is possible to reach Cardada, a well-known ski resort where you can make long descents on gentle slopes while admiring breathtaking views.
