The mountain loop highway is a dirt road that connects Darrington to Granite Falls, Washington. The road is closed in the winter but is a magical outdoor playground in the summer. Several trails start from this road that go into the cascades (including the famous Enchantments!) and there are lovely free camping spots right off the road along the river.
