You could spend a day in the dockyard among the fleets of ships, vessels and tall ships. It's a charming sight that really does put Portsmouth on most people's radar when tripping around the South West coast of England. The history of all the vessels put together must constitute thousands of years. Entrance to these pearls such as the HMS Victory are pricey but it's as close you're likely to get, to witness the remnants of some great British Battles from as far back as Napoleonic times.
