Another 10 kilometres north of the Dead Sea behind a line of date palms is situated the estimated location of where Jesus Christ was baptised. Bethany on the Jordan, also known as Qasr el-Yahud in Israel, is nestled on the banks of the the River Jordan and was a memorable part of my journey further west. From the Palestinian side you can look over to Jordan just a few metres away. Like many others who descend on this holy patch, I took it upon myself to dip my toe in the water whilst paying homage to Christ. Baptisms are not uncommon and even offer DVD's with it on!
