Maiden Tower
Maiden Tower is a one of the most notable medieval landmarks of Baku. Its construction predates Islam as a state religion in the fifteenth century and is stemmed from Zoroastrianism. There are over a score of myths and legends anchored to its past some centred around key elements of its doctrines; fire and water. The tower can be seen on the banknotes and is tastefully floodlit at night among leafy squares and stalls.
Tickets are a costly 10 manat (5 euros) but can give you an unobstructed view of the Flame Towers on Parliament Avenue.
Opening times: 9am - 6pm daily.
