Kungsträdgården T-bana
One of the most elaborately designed metro stations of Stockholm is Kungsträdgården. Besides the corridors, are relics taken from when Stockholm underwent redevelopment in the 50s and 60s. The ceiling is painted like a patchwork quilt with green and reds playing the biggest part of what you can see today.
Would you ever think of going to a metro station for flora and fauna? Kungsträdgården houses a small genus of spider and a rare moss once considered extinct in and around Stockholm. Surprises like these are just a few of many found under street level of any visit to Stockholm.
I spent 20 minutes on a late Saturday night, reconnoitring the underground tunnels. Around these hours are the best times to survey the central stations. You'll pass a few people but principally platforms are mostly empty with colourful passageways to admire, all to yourself.
