Royal Crescent
One of the best example of Georgian architecture can be no other than the Royal Crescent. It took shape in the middle in the middle of the eighteenth century and has barely changed since, surviving the two world wars.
During sunny day picnickers are out in force on the sizable lawn confronted by the ha-ha boundary ditch facing the crescent. In the past ditches like these were created as a way of preventing cattle from grazing on private land. An expression of surprise 'ha-ha' to what seemed initially as an uninterrupted patch of land from afar, gave rise to this name. Bathonions and tourists alike take great pleasure in ensconcing themselves on five acres of cotton soft lawn facing one of the most regal parts of S.W England.
