Statue of Love
Ali and Nino are deeply in love, so much so they literally merge into one another. The seven metre, seven tonne Love Statue on the boulevard of Batumi is a reflection of endless love between lovers of two neighbouring nations. The story is akin to the tale of Romeo and Juliet portraying an Azerbajani boy falling for a Georgia Princess. Every evening at 7pm the statues light up and move closer together before becoming one and then separating with their backs to each other. It's a symbol of they undying love pulled apart by religion, culture and conflict. Seven is the key number here!
