Within a few minutes of renting my moto I was waived to the side of the road at this police checkpoint. Since I don't have an international license or a moto license they charged me 500 baht for a 4-day "pass" that allows me to proceed legally. There is 2 minutes of paperwork involved, but this is basically a bribe. You can usually bargain with them, but there was some Australian cop that was a real wanker and would not negotiate. I think you can just drive on past without issue. This location is a popular check point starting at about 10am. #police #moto
