Central-Mid-Levels Escalators
Hong Kong is a city built on mountains, as you can see how buildings stacked on each level as we climb up. Although Hongkongers are used to walking, it can be tedious just to reach your residence at the top! Luckily, there is the world longest elevator here to help as we make our way up. The elevator goes in downward direction in the morning for the office crowd and goes the other way in the evening as the folks return home. Sofeene explains that incidentally, the higher your residential apartment is located, the more expensive it is. The residences and commercial shops are packed close and tight to one another in this narrow vertical space. Some are even so close to the elevator that you can peer within. I can see why Sofeene likes this place with its otherworldly charm of old and new. I suggest taking the elevator from Mid-Levels up. Do be mindful of how high you go as the elevator serves only one way at designated period! #urban #culture #hongkongisland #asia #HongKong #escalator #citylife #free
