Cafe An Nhiên
One of thousands of cafes spilling out onto the street early morning is An Nhien. I simply adore the way Vietnamese make their coffee. The majority of them are prepared with the robusta bean and, although bitter in taste, they have a way of making the drink smooth and palatable. Think coconut coffee, egg coffee and coffee with condensed milk. All were extremely satisfying and this place is no exception. Prices are strikingly low. With such outstanding quality you’d not find such a place at such a price in a month of Sundays in Europe. French missionaries brought coffee to the region at the end of the 19th century. Since then the nation has mastered some fabulous techniques. This place was open at 4am, perfect for fueling up before catching a local floating market after sunrise.
