The spear that pierced Christ's side is said to have passed through these doors. It has holy spring in which the early monastery was founded in the 4th century, although it wasn't until the first half the 13th century that further construction went underway. Built into caves and ranked as one of the most sacred places of worship in Armenia, this place deserves its status for being a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
