Kyu-Shiba-rikyu Gardens
Kyu-Shiba-rikyu Gardens was once reserved for the exclusive use of Japan’s emperor and his court. Today this traditional Japanese landscape garden can be visited by anyone. Walking around the small lake gives changing views of the man-made hills and islands, designed to mimic mountains and oceans. Although skyscrapers in the background hint at the busy city beyond the walls, Kyu-Shiba-rikyu is quiet and tranquil. It’s particularly beautiful during plum blossom season in February and March, and wisteria season in May. #tokyo #plumblossom #garden
