Certainly one of the most colourful birds I saw throughout The Gambia and Senegal whilst traipsing through Tanji Bird Reserve. The bar-breasted firefinch is often spotted hopping about on the park floor. This burgundy freckled friend of mine produced a series of hops before flitting over to another part of the path and repeating its previous moves. Notice the cluster of white freckles on its lower right breast and pretty yellow eyelids encompassing its eyes. It took sometime to get a clear shot of it given how it jumps about almost involuntarily. #photography #burgundy #bird
