The Bosques de Luz (forest of light) or Square of lights in Cisneros Square is a successful example of the city's democratic architecture initiative. This was the goal of creating beautiful public spaces in previously destitute areas. After the market buildings that originally stood here burnt down in the 60s, the area became a no-go zone - full of crime and unsavoury characters.
