I'd been in Port Macquarie for nearly a week before realising that this nature reserve is just a short walk from town. You'll find the entrance to Kooloonbung Creek just off Gordon Street. It's a nature reserve with a historic cemetary nearby and also home to the bats you see flying over town at night! Various trails and boardwalks to follow for an interesting afternoon stroll.
