Czechs aren't particularly pious. Derelict churches lie scattered around the foothills of mountain ranges and highways. As such, religious buildings are often overlooked with more attention given to the reservoirs, ski pistes and hiking trails. One reason for devoting this list to churches are their hushed role in Liberec, void of crowds, even on Sundays! Last Saturday was a productive day, road tripping around churches in Liberec and busting open prepacked sandwiches on cemetery benches. Blue skies and stillness on God's front lawns, offset the weekly grind of city life and traffic.
