The Zocalo itself was the main plaza during the Spanish conquest. Today, still remain the main ancient buildings such as the metropolitan church and the presidential palace. It is rich in cultural remains and art. The Zocalo is also known to be the reunion spot for manifestation, cultural shows and big gatherings for national events such as Independence day on September 15th or this year’s 50 anniversary of the events of 1968. It is easily reachable by any public transportation and is walkable from the Alameda central and the famous museum of Bellas Artes.
