U Gruzína
Don't judge this place at face value. Service, instant cordiality and originality exude from every corner of this far flung restaurant from Central Prague. U Gruzína is even set outside, on garden benches where guests can munch their way through renowned Georgian Khinkali and savour knuckle-sized skewers of shashlik. The smell from three houses down makes it obvious you're close. The Georgian salad, which resembles that of the Bulgarian Shopska salad, was utterly perfect to the point that the herbs and oils used, dominated the dish. The cucumber and tomato made a pleasant finish of flavours to my palate before diving into another mouthful. As for the Khinkali, I cannot say anything bad. My only hesitation was perhaps that a little more filling could have been used. We opted for the mushroom and meat ones; and after a dozen, were fully sated. The venue is set along an ordinary street not far from a Roman Catholic monastery in the district of Bílá Hora. Directions: From outside the Metro Station at Národní Třída jump on the number 22 Tram to to Bílá Hora. The stop is situated at the end of the line on Karlovarská. From there it's less than a five minute walk along Karlovarská where you'll find the place tucked away on the left. Some no. 22 trams terminate at Vypich, four stops down, but have regular connections to the last stop. #food #dinner
