The cattle egret is perhaps one of the most ubiquitous birds found in Senegal and Gambia. This photo was taken outside the hotel I stayed located on a five kilometre long peninsula facing UNESCO St. Louis. Scores of egrets swoop in on the mangroves daily at dusk before nesting for the night. The sound of them will stay with you hours after your encounter. #photography
