Faidherbe Bridge
No visit to UNESCO Saint Louis is quite the same until you've crossed Faidherbe Bridge. The iron structure made it easier for commercial traders to cross when previously boats were used until the middle of the 19th century. Air sweeping in from the Atlantic over the Langue de Barbarie peninsula and down the Sénégal River make visits here a fresh respite from the considerably warmer south. Fruit sellers laden with bunches of bananas, commuters and intercity traffic traverse the eight spanned bridge daily. It's a pleasant walk across. If there is any landmark in St. Louis to give reverence to then this eight spanned, 100 year old structure should the the first one to tick off your list. #bridge #town #history
