The Crossbowmen's Quarry (Cava dei Balestrieri) is a part of San Marino which hosts displays of pageantry. On the third of September the largest annual crossbow tournament takes place here too celebrating its longstanding history. Other crossbow competitions and practises take place sporadically throughout the year. You can come here to gaze down at the firing range whilst imagining how accomplished crossbowmen battle it out for first place. Before functioning as venue for competitions, the quarry supplied stone to the restoration of the Public Palace of San Marino in the 19th century.
