UBUD ART MARKET
Popularized by Julia Roberts for her Hollywood movie Eat Pray Love, which was shot in these bylanes, the Ubud Art Market is a double YES for bringing Bali back with you once home. Be prepared to be spoilt for choice here. Thousands of artistically hand-woven Dreamcatchers are available in all sizes and colors. You will find a hand or tote bag for every taste. Same goes for clutches and shoulder bags, picnic bags not to mention the signature handwoven Balinese bag – here you will find them in all sizes and shapes. This is a generally a good place to pick beautiful silk scarves, lightweight shirts, handmade woven bags, baskets or hats, statues, kites and many other hand-crafted goods. Naturally, bargaining is essential. At one point, I ran out of local currency. That’s when I got a knit-blouse for 1/3rd the quoted price, making me feel like a fool for the rest of the deals. So bargain hard, but if you haven’t worry not. Those purchases are a steal any which way. Most of the goods here are made locally, in neighboring villages. This market is more upscale than Goa Gajah and almost a kilometer long. Snake your way through hundreds of tourists that thong this lane. #souvenirs #gifts #bargains #indonesia #ubud #views #photography
